He lay within the bottemless depths,
a hardened shell full closed.
No pain nor danger enter in,
nor treasure could unfold.
Until one day the will of God,
permitted in one grain of sod.
Knawning at the soul 'til it,
gave way to God and did submit.
The sore; engulfed in selfish flesh
ne'er to be erased,
For this small piece of agony,
the sufferer had embraced.
And only when he shares himself,
unclamps his fears and pride,
Can sods of sorrow come to be,
the pearl that waits inside.
